Well, my extended weekend in Ohio was a nice get-away from the city for a bit. I think I may have eaten a bit too much chocolate (thanks, Easter Bunny) but all in all it was a very refreshing weekend. I’m glad to be back in the city though!

Unfortunately, due to a scheduling conflict I wasn’t able to do Cousins Grimm (which I am very sad about) but I did land a part in another fun musical! It’s a fun new work (yay!) that points fun at all the big Broadway musicals. It’s going up at Mary’s Attic (2nd floor of Hamburger Mary’s) this summer, which means I’ll most likely be drinking a lot, but it will get me back into being social again! I’ve been a little reclusive since my last show. smiley-03

I’m happy to be working with the Bailiwick Repertory Theatre again. They gave me my first role out of college (Thrill Me) and I also did the American Premiere of Jerry Springer: The Opera with them.

We start rehearsals soon, and it’s got a fabulous A-list Chicago cast! I think this is going to be a really fun experience; no deep character work here – just good plain old fashioned fun! See you at Mary’s Attic!

Talk about an all-star cast of a fabulous musical! This is the definitive version of Leonard Bernstein’s “Candide”, preserved for all time (or until someone gets rights-happy) on YouTube.

I think Patti LuPone is so amazing as The Old Lady!! And of course Kristin Chenoweth is unbelievable as Cunegonde. And Paul Graves.. O. M. G. What a beautiful voice.

Enjoy!

At the Chicago staged reading of High Fidelity The Musical at the Mercury Theatre with my friends Harmony and Elliott! Just sitting in the audience, chatting and waiting for the show to start. We had a couple beers and buffalo wings before the show ftw! So, feeling good and excited to see an all-star Chicago cast which includes a number of my friends! Cast is coming out, gotta go!

Show’s over.. it was awesome! It worked SO well as a staged reading.. I think it should always be done as a staged reading. The cast was absolutely amazing.. some really great Chicago actors in the cast!

I went to see Mary Poppins (the musical) at the Cadillac Palace theatre downtown today. It was AMAZING!! I can’t remember the last time I had such a great time in the theatre. I felt like a kid again!

Highly recommended!

I see I haven’t posted to my blog in QUITE some time. Well, just to update everyone, I finished a 2 month run of a successful production of The Foreigner at a nice commercial theatre in the suburbs, my graphic/web design business has taken off and I’m working around the clock, I’m taking a couple months away from theatre to save up some money and get an eyebrow ring, and I’ve started dating someone new. I know, right? It’s been over a year and a half since the terrible break-up, and this is the first guy since then that I have had even the SLIGHTEST interest in. Exciting! He’s handsome, charming, polite, nice, intelligent, likes to have fun, wants to take things slow, and we get along great. Well, if there was ever going to be a guy to get my attention again, that would be his description! lol. It feels nice, and it feels right for what it is at this point in my life. And I REALLY like taking it slow. I’m not interested in diving into another relationship head first again.

Sooo, after a long time of being poor, destitute, unemployed and depressed, my life seems to have swung back on track again and I’m headed in a good direction. Of course, there’s always the cynical side of me that says “WE’LL SEE.”… but, we will! Hopefully I will feel like writing again soon and post again. I miss my blog!

Oh, and as a welcome back gift, here’s some tickets to the gun show, bitches.
